The broad objectives of the International Heteropterists’ Society (IHS) are to promote systematic, biogeographic, and biological studies of Heteroptera and to cultivate cooperative research among heteropterists throughout the world. The Society is organized and operated exclusively for scientific and educational purposes.

The Society holds a meeting every four years at locations around the world, where members give presentations on their work and discuss the directions of the Society. The Society’s website provides an online portal for distribution of information about bugs, including a world bibliography, taxon pages, and membership details.

Dai R. et al.: "New genus and species of Yuripopovinidae (Heteroptera: Pentatomomorpha) from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber"

Based on an exquisitely preserved Yuripopovinidae specimen, a new genus and species, Tumpectus triporcatus gen. et sp. nov. is described and illustrated. The new genus has a unique vein pattern in the forewings, and we discuss the forewing veins features of the Yuripopovinidae. Furthermore, the new genus also has some interesting features that are different from other genera, comparison between the new species and other fossil genera in the Yuripopovinidae is provided.

Ma Y.-N. et al.: "A new genus and species of Nabinae (Heteroptera: Cimicomorpha: Nabidae) from mid-Cretaceous Burmese amber"

A remarkable new genus and species, Mecocollaris simplipodus gen. et sp. nov. is described from mid-Cretaceous amber. It is the second fossil record of Nabinae from Myanmar amber. The new species is distinguished from other nabids based on labial segment Ⅲ longer than the combination of segments I, Ⅱ and Ⅳ, hind tibia without clear row of setae corresponding to stiff setae associated with the Ekblom’s organ. By comparing extant species and fossil records of Nabidae, the evolution of the Ekblom’s organ of nabids is discussed.

Leng Z. et al.: "A taxonomic review of Ptilomera from China, with descriptions of two new species (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Gerridae)"

The species of Ptilomera Amyot & Serville, 1843 from China are reviewed. Two new species, Ptilomera acutidentata sp. n. and Ptilomera valida sp. n., are described from Yunnan, China. Diagnoses and new distribution records are provided for four previously recorded species, i.e., Ptilomera burmana D. Polhemus, 2001, Ptilomera hemmingseni Andersen, 1967, Ptilomera hylactor Breddin, 1903, and Ptilomera tigrina Uhler, 1860. Photographs and line drawings of the habitus, diagnostic characteristics of both sexes, habitat and in-situ photographs are presented. A distribution map of Ptilomera in China is also provided.
