Systematics Catalogues or databases
The Lygaeoidea Species File database contains taxonomic and other information about all the seed bugs of the world (about 4700 species), both living and fossil. The Catalogue includes more than 2400 images of types for 1180 taxa, updated classification and synonyms, references and distributional data.
This online catalog is under continual development as more specimen data and other information are added.
The Coreoidea Species File database contains taxonomic and other information about all the leatherbugs of the world. It is under continual development as more specimen data and images are added. Presently, most names are included.
This database is derived from Plant Bugs of the World (Schuh, 1995), a work that was heavily based on J. C. M. Carvalho’s monumental Catalogue of the Miridae of the World, published between 1957 and 1960. Carvalho had surveyed the literature from 1758 through 1955; Schuh (1995) added data from 1956–1993. The present work adds additional literature and offers the possibility for continued updating; it also adds enhancements to the underlying database and searching functions.
The website contains a wealth of information on the various families of the Pentatomoidea (especially the Pentatomidae), and even some information that will be of general interest to Heteropterists. This website also contains information on present day pentatomid researchers, and biographical and type information on past heteropteran workers. It also contains a bibliography of references pertaining to all aspects of the Pentatomoidea.
